Sister Schools

School Children in the Djabal Camp in Chad

An entire generation of Darfuri children is growing up in refugee camps with little or no schooling, leaving them susceptible to abduction as child soldiers and with little hope for a productive future. The people of Darfur want a future with skilled, knowledgeable leaders. They want their children to have an education and the hope and promise that education brings.

JWW, in partnership with the Darfur Dream Team and top NBA players, has sponsored the building, staffing and equipping of the Sudan Djedid (New Sudan) and Ali Dinar B Schools in the Djabal refugee camp in Eastern Chad. The schools will serve over 4000 students and will be the first in a series of schools built in the 12 Darfuri refugee camps in Chad.

Check out this interactive map of the schools in the camps.

Jewish World Watch in partnership with the Dillon Henry Foundation and Gary Saltz Foundation is now building two new schools in the Goz Amer refugee camp as well.

Help us build our new schools – the Daresalam A & B Schools in Goz Amer camp!

Rally for Sister Schools – A Success!

On February 8, 2010, Los Angeles Clippers star Baron Davis joined JWW, the Darfur Dream Team and over 200 students from more than 12 schools to rally for Sister Schools! With the help of the entire JWW community, we have raised the money needed to build, staff and fully equip two schools in the Djabal refugee camp in eastern Chad – serving a total of 4000 students! An additional $2,000 was raised that evening, which will go toward funding a third school.
