Mike Brand joined the JWW team in April 2015 as the Director of Policy and Programs.

Mike is an atrocities prevention and human rights professional with over eight years’ experience in policy, advocacy, organizing and informal education. Throughout his career Mike has worked for various NGOs in the US, Rwanda and South Sudan. He holds a Master’s in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University and BA’s in History and Political Science from the University of Connecticut.

Mike authored “Preventing Mass Atrocities: A Three Pronged Approach to Comprehensive Prevention” which was featured in the Journal of International Service, has been published in The Hill, and has engaged in countless speaking engagements.

Mike was a 2010 Jewish Service Corps fellow where he spent a year living and working at the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village in Rwanda. He currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Carl Wilkens Fellowship and was a 2011 Fellow.

Born and raised on Long Island and having spent time in DC, Mike is new to the West Coast and is looking forward to avoiding the harsh winters.
